Terms of Use

The service

Karakatytsia offers self-contained detective cases you investigate in your browser: you study the evidence, build your theory and submit a final accusation. Some cases are free, others must be purchased.

Your account

• You sign in with your Google account. You are responsible for keeping access to it secure and for everything done through your account.
• An account is personal — do not share it or sell access to it.
• You must be at least 16 years old, or have permission from a parent or guardian, to use the site.

Purchases and payment

• Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the merchant of record for all our orders and handles payment, invoicing, taxes and customer service inquiries related to payment.
• Prices are shown before checkout. Applicable taxes are calculated by Paddle depending on your country.
• Buying a case gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to play it with your account for as long as the site operates. It does not transfer any ownership of the case.

Refunds

If something went wrong with your purchase, you can request a refund within 14 days of payment by writing to us or through Paddle (paddle.net). Refunds are processed by Paddle to the original payment method. Access to a refunded case is removed.

Intellectual property

All cases, stories, texts, images, documents and other site materials belong to Karakatytsia or its licensors and are protected by copyright. You may not copy, publish, sell or distribute them, in whole or in part, without our written permission.

Acceptable use

When using the site you agree not to:

• try to bypass payment or access paid cases without buying them;
• interfere with the site, probe it for vulnerabilities or gain unauthorised access to data;
• scrape or automatically download case materials;
• post ratings or comments that are offensive, unlawful or infringe other people’s rights.

Your content

Your notes on the case board are private and visible only to you. By leaving a rating or comment after solving a case, you allow us to display it on the site, without your email address.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the site running, but it is provided “as is” and may occasionally be unavailable. We may update, change or remove features and cases. If we permanently remove a case you paid for, we will try to give you a reasonable notice.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under applicable law.

Termination

You can stop using the site and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when they were last changed. By continuing to use the site after a change you accept the updated terms.
