Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 13, 2026

Karakatytsia (“we”, “us”) runs this website, where you investigate interactive detective cases. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, who we share it with and what rights you have.

Data we collect

  • Google account details — when you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, profile picture and Google account identifier. We never see your Google password.
  • Game progress — the cases you start and solve, your notes on the case board, your final accusations and the ratings and comments you leave after solving a case.
  • Purchases — which cases you bought, the amount and currency paid, the payment status and the transaction identifiers from our payment provider. We never receive or store your card details.
  • Preferences — your selected interface language.
  • Visit statistics — an anonymous random device identifier and the time of your visit, used only to count visitors.

How we use your data

We do not sell your data, show ads or use your data for advertising profiling.

  • To sign you in and keep you signed in.
  • To save your progress so you can continue a case on any device.
  • To process purchases and give you access to the cases you paid for.
  • To show the site in your preferred language.
  • To understand, in aggregate, how many people visit the site and how cases are rated, so we can improve them.

Cookies

We only use cookies the site needs to work. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

  • Session cookies — keep you signed in after you log in with Google.
  • Language cookie — remembers the interface language you chose.
  • Device identifier cookie — a random anonymous value stored for up to one year, used only to count unique visits.

How long we keep data

We keep your account data and game progress for as long as your account exists. When your account is deleted, your progress, notes, accusations and ratings are deleted with it.

Purchase records may be kept for longer where accounting or tax law requires it. Anonymous visit statistics are kept in aggregate form.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
  • correct inaccurate data;
  • have your account and data deleted;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Security

All traffic to the site is encrypted over HTTPS, access to the database is restricted, and we store only the data we need to run the service. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
